As most of you avid readers might know, XXL's past issue placed the top contenders for the KING OF NY title in a top ten list.
Among those were
Nas, 50cent, Jadakiss, Ghost Face Killah, Fabolous, Mos Def and others...
What I want to know is who do you think should hold the crown ?
Personally I don't even know... I want to say nas...
because he's my favorite MC.. but that nigga don't have the mass appeal to do that. 50 cent cannot be the king because he's wack... who cares if he sold 6 million. Mos def in my opinion should be able to hold the tittle... but!!!!! my homie has only dropped one album.... well what do ya'll think?
I think that the crown Should go to NAS... he's the illest among them...
and yea, 50 is wack..lol, the only reason he sold so much was cuz he got introduced by Dre and Em... that's what I think at least... cuz I don' think he would've sold so much if Dre and Em didn't introduce "get rich or die tryin'"...
anyway, Nas should have the crown in my oppinion...

Yo the modern day rapper, king of ny should go to nas but if u ask me Dmx he's been around awhile longer i agree that fifty probably wouldn't have sold that much if he was not introduced by dre and em, he is aiight in my oppinion, then i listened to beg for mercy-G-unit and yeah i would say young buck raps better then 50, loyyd banks, and tony yayo, however if he was still alive i would say the title should go to BIGGIE SMALLS! he wasn't just the eastcoast king, HE WAS THE GREATEST RAPPER OF ALL TIME!!! in my oppinion maybe it is because i am from the eastcoast but i listen to biggie it makes u really understand where he commen from he got skill and his words is true, 2pac man he cries way to much i just aint feeling aint!

Big L wasn't versatile... his rhyming was always the same...
BIG CAT.. had to DIG THAT... but boy his SHITS WACK..
with the two word shit and he only had one album.. the other was a compilation of shit. Big L was good... Biggie was better.
yo i'ma admit big L was pretty ill but i still think biggie should take the title fuck 2pac! yo i am a fan of Big L's music but i aint really into his life that much but isn't he from the dirty? i dunno man fill me in

NO QUESTION ON WHO THE NEW KING OF NYC IS..
Nas is tight I gotta admit hes one of my favs but no one comes close to MOS DEF..his flow has inspired me to get in the game..and Black on Both sides is one of the greatest CD's of all time...and The New Danger just came out and shows his versatillity gotta give the crown to the MIGHTY MOS BROOKLYNS OWN! LOL, you say Biggie only dropped two albums like he was really about to drop anything after his second? HE GOT SHOT... HE'S DEAD, he CAN'T drop anymore albums.
Nas does not deserve the crown either. Can I remind you guys of that album with that track that went like : "Nasty nas, to esco, to escobar, now he is Nastrodamous"? That album was wack, Nas lost himself, and had to recreate his image after.
ACE, what the hell are you talking about? DMX wasn't around before Nas.
if JayZ isn't on the list, he should get the crown anyway. He pumped out album after album, and never fell short of what he said he was going to do. He always switched up his flow, worked with a ton of different producers, and has 9 or 10 commercial albums under his belt. If you're hating on him, its out of envy.
