w/o a shadow of a doubt jay z- wat hes on his 9th album now and rarely have i heard a verse from him that was wack. . . not all his songs r up 2 par but in every verse he spits he comes with elements that no other rapper does. . .jigga man is the most consistent of all time

yea...i fourth that comment...but this is a hard one to call...i mean theres alot of cats with dope shit...from an eastcoast perspective, maybe jay-z or wu-tang....from a westcoast perspective maybe too-short or ice-cube....theres just too many cats out there with a grip of albums and been around for a good minute is my opinion...fvkit...i dunno

He was consistant while he was alive, dont forget you stated of all time. You didnt say if they were dead or not

if you wana say consistant....yall wont agree, but i rather go with 50 cent........for simple fact.........50 got 2 albums solo, 4 g-unit, bunch of mixtapes, and freestyles................keeps up with the new, like you said, jay aint up to par.....but 50 is neither, and hardly of his shit is wack....jus shit aint the hottest........50 stay comin out with mixes and keeps elevating......he got the clubs bumpin.......and cars thumpin......and the streets like him...but dont adore him........nor they adore jay.......

but for big.l.........if he was alive, he would been consistant aswell, duke had style and stayed fresh on his lines........

the only reason i vote against jay here and put 50 next to them, is cause wether you might disagree but ive notice both these rappers get same recognition in music and street music and they both have been caught recycling and using other peoples beats.............lolz.....

lol you guys ever hear 'the originators' by jay?....its not even close to his style today, i saw the vid to it, and he is a total different person in it...

not all mc's can stay consistent, hip hop changes and they dont always change right with it...its like mc hammer trying to act thug in early 90's, went from dancing in his genie pants, to talking bout his nine...

but i have to canibus is the closest of them...bis is true hip hop, and always comes out nice

By my personal opinion, I think 50 can't ever top the Reasonable Doubt and In My Lifetime Vol. 1 cd's that Jay-z made early in his career...if you're a true hip-hop fan, you have to own those two cd's they're instant classics......post up if you disagree......

jay-z does come with it . . . he was a newbie and a friends w/ Big L (when he was still alive) . . . but really cats these days are doin their thing and not comin sh*tty . . if i had to name some artists, it would be talib kweli, canibus, jay-z, biggie, eminem to name a few . . theres so many that i like and have kept up there game i cant name them all . . theres no 'best' in my opinion . .

most consistent........ eminem . big L... Biggie.. Nas. u will never here anything whack come outta there mouths.. ever

just to say that this isn't true, no rapper can go an entire career and not drop sumthin wack, i've definitely hear eminem n nas drop wackness before

as for biggie i'd be hard pushed but there will be sumthin

11-17-2003, 08:38 PM
I'd have to say Nas. His wordplay is . Canibus also has  wordplay but not as consistant as Nas.

You can't really label Jay-Z "consistent." His style flips like 3 times within a verse. that's the reason he's great but...you can't say "consistent". it's more "otent"

wow. ..u people really say canibus is the most consistent??? shiet. . . get a clue and actually listen 2 him- how many people can honestly say they can sit down and listen 2 'c true hollywood stories' all the way thru more then once- or ' my name is nobody' or ' the brainstream'

bis is one of my favorite emcees- but he is quite inconsistent. ..

big L- jigga shined on the tracks they had 2gether- big dropped disgusting stuff, he was way ahead of his time and ne1 that does not have life styles of the poor and dangerous is a hip hop head deprived of the origins. . .

nas. ..no, listen 2 his braveheart shit and nastradamaus. ..take that comment back

biggie??? please- biggie is known for spitten that real ish, he was not an elemental artist- he first picked up spitten multies and shit on life after death, on ready 2 die it was simple ass lyrics. ..listen 2 it- its a classic because it was real as hell

eminem. ..nooooo go listen 2 the d12 album. . .

50 cent??? come on man, he comes wack as hell on half his tracks, simple ass lyrics, his last lyrical hot album was guess whos back, once he hit mainstream his lyrics totally declines. . .50 is a pop artist, he drops them catchy shits, his lyrics are blah. ..

jay z. . .has always spit that nasty stuff, i still dont see any true arguments that would lead me away from believing jay z is most consistent

pharoahe is nasty as hell- this could be argued, but he really shined on his solo cd, on organized konfusion his lyrics seemed a little blah at times. .. he could compete w/ jigga 2 a certain extent, but hes not always puttin out which kills his option

talib kweli??? noooooooooooo never, his shit is so inconsistent, he comes wack as hell sometimes , shit his flow is inconsistent, hes a great emcee wen he works at it, but hes far from a deffinittion of consistencey

as far as jay z biting. . .

he takes quotables. .. hes done it on a few tracks people tag him as always doing it, shit every one does it, ask eminem adn 50 cent

every emcee nowadays is swinging from pac and biggies nuts.. .the only emcee close 2 touching em is jigga man. ..

i disagreee with distinct ^.. bout canibus

canibus is consistant.. its a fact that his tru hollywood stories album was shit.. but he's always droppin albums n stayin fresh like fukin 2000 bc, rip the jacker, etc..

kool G rap is consitant also cuz.. c'mon.. he has like around 7 albums not sure.. (can sumone confirms that?) .. always ripps tracks... everyone knows its tru

yukmouth also.. always fresh n his style is madd...i think he has 5 albums if im not mistakened

jayz.. i dun listen to but sure is consistant tho..i dun even know how many albums he dropped

Jedi mind tricks are on there way as well.. vinny paz is madd crazy..(one of the best rappers :P ) stays fresh..

have you guys heard big ls and jay-z's 7 minute freestyle???? that shit is just crazy!!!!! mad sickness..... so i think jay-z got the consistency as well as too short for the simple fact that he has put out more than 12 albums....now thats gangsta!!!!!!

heh man canibus is one of my favorite emcees. .. but he is not consistent at all. . .realize it, c true was shit, brainstream was, my name was nobody was, mic club had sum hot songs, he is a lyrical genius but at times he comes off pretty shitty, hes a great emcee, but his consistnecy level isnt all there. . .he even said it himself in rip the jacker cd. . .
