JAY JAY’s body was found late one night in New York City
His mother told me she believed,
it was sumthin in which he O.D.’d
The life he always lived high, his lungs filled with weed
Born Jermaine Mathis Jr.,
maybe to sum, his death coulda came sooner
last time we spoke, he was on his way to a correction facility
he said he missed me and he loved me and dat he’d succeed with all his ability
I believe he was my first love, I believe we were meant to be
But he never had a chance, ever since I met him when I was three
Last time I saw him, he told me shit was hard with death and no hugs
Everyday he woke up, he smoked a blunt and sold sum drugs
He was always tryin to be sum kinna thug, when that wasn’t really him
He said he’d never see heaven, cause he’d committed to much sin
I know he feared failure and a future that’d never be seen
Wish him a happy birthday, Today he woulda been 17
