Uhm, okay. The background looks, fine, because I can see what you were trying to do to it. First off, duplicate your background, on another layer, and do some minor brushing in different spots, and then set the layer to Overlay, Soft Light, Or Screen. It'll give it a pretty nice lighting effect, and also, you'll have a layer to work with. Now, on your bottom BG layer (The one you had originally) place the render. Now the oprder of your layers should be like this. Background <Underneath> Render <Underneath> Background 2.
Now, since the render is placed under your 2nd Background, it'll have some brushing over it already, and it's color will take on some of the color of the BG 2. You can change the Render's color to your liking by Image > Adjustments> Hue/Saturation. Now, take another copy of the render, and place it atop every other layer, and set it's opacity to somewhere around 50-60 %. You should get a nice ghosting effect, relaying the colors from every other layer. Do osme minor brushing around it's edges, and you've got a nice render, with some pimp ass blending. *Brushes off his shoulders* I didn't go TOO in depth, because I don't have an actual tutorial with pictures, but you should get the general idea.
