in most ov my battles all tha vets keep sayin to improve my structure.. and im not quite sure wut "structure" means.. culd some1 explain to me wut structure is and maybe give me an example and compare it to a bad one..
thx
It's basically how your verse is put together and has a lot to do with syllables. Ultimately, the structure will affect your flow and meter. This category is generally relevant with text, because in audio, it depends how you spit your verse. It's pretty much how your verse is constructed and how the lines are separated.
Good structure (notice how even they are [AKA meter]):
I keep the cake up at the bar
with the twenties on my car
all the bitches love my shoes
'cause my chicken's on the loose
Bad structure (very uneven and affects the flow):
I keep the
cake up at the bar
with the
twenties on my car
all the bitches
love my shoes
'cause my chicken's on the loose
This is an exaggeration, but the same idea. The syllables must match up (for the most part). The meter has to be even or people will read the flow wrong.
The structure of your verse, like I said, is generally how your verse is put together and how organized it is.

kool i think i feel u on that.. but somtimes i feel like emcees aint feelin how i flow, and they think da freestyle has no "flow." so it's kinda hard for me to make every1 flow with me.. dats why i feel like recording is much easier. but thx for your help
Yea, and that's a huge difference between text and audio--in text, you hafta make it completely obvious about what you're doing with your flow; there's very little creativity in that aspect compared to audio. So it may flow just fine on the mic, but on paper it has to be obvious.
