Eminem Racism Accusation

This is an article that I saw in a newspaper today and I have a few questions about it that I would like to start a debate on below:


EMINEM has been accused of recording a racist rap song before he was famous. The bad boy star has been blasted for writing a track where he insults black women.

He made the song, which was uncovered by America’s Source magazine, in 1993. Lyrics include: “Black girls only want your money ’cause they’re dumb chicks.”

The source said the rapper must be “held accountable” for the song.

The remorseful rapper said: “The tape they played was something I made out of anger, stupidity and frustration when I was a teenager. I’d just broken up with my girlfriend, who was African-American, and I reacted like the angry, stupid kid I was.”


1. Do you think Eminem was wrong for writing these lyrics? Since black rappers could diss white women until they die and never have to comment on it but a white rapper disses black chicks and they have to answer to every media company in knowledge.

2. Society has created a state of mind where it is acceptable for black people to throw racist slurs at white people without consequence but if it is the opposite way around it is highly unacceptable, what are your views?


None of the above are my views but are truths about what is going on in the world and I thought I would start a debate to see what the views of everyone else thinks. Now I know racism is not tolerated on this board and so no examples are present here as there is a level of control that can stop this, but in the real world there is no big enough level of control to stop anything like this happening, so please everyone get involved in this debate, it should be very interesting to see ideas on this.

Obviously racism should not be tolerated. I dont really Eminem should be held accountable because he wrote that song as a teenager which was a while ago. And now, for wut ever reason the media wants to bring that shit up now? Wut up with that. Secondly, that song was directed at his ex girlfriend, not black women in general. Rappers have talked about alot worse things. And milli brought up a good point, wen black rappers diss white women nothing happens, so why is this different?

Your statement is intellectually incorrect. People of color are chastised every day for their demeaning, demoralizing lyrics. For example, Bill OORiley on Fox new Channel has addressed these issue with Ludacris, Camron, and P-Diddy.

In the early 90's, Ice T was criticized for his demeaning, demoralizing lyrics. in the song "Cop Killer." NWA was criticized for their demeaning, demoralizing lyrics in songs such as "A 8itch is a 8itch" and "P H U C K the Police."

Buju Banton was criticized for his demeaning, demoralizing lyrics in the song "Boom Bye Bye." Which talks about kill'n homosexuals.

Public Enemy and Boogie Down Productions were criticized for their politically themed lyrics, and They weren’t degrading or demoralizing anyone.

It’s only right that EMiNem being called out for his lyrics. For every action there’s a reaction. We are responsible for what we say or do… These are just a handful of artists, I could be here all day listing names.

Please provide some facts we can reference that supports your statement of "black rappers could diss white women until they die and never have to comment on it but a white rapper disses black chicks and they have to answer to every media company in knowledge."

Written below are the lyrics to Eminem's freestyle from 1993. It was released today {Tues, Nov 18 2003 } by The Source Magazine which has an ongoing beef with Em. Dave Mays and Ray Benzino attempetd to make the case that this song was proof positive that Eminem was not only racist but also someone who was trying to co-opt Hip Hop.

According to Anthony Bozza, the author of the just released New York Times bestseller WHATEVER YOU SAY I AM: The Life And Times of Eminem (Crown), the tape sounded like Eminem was drunk. Bozza who attended yesterday's Source Magazine press conference specualted that Em was venting in a really nasty way after being heartbroken by an African American woman.

However heartbreak or not, there are many sisters who aren't going to be feeling him after reading the and hearing the lyrics. The Source Magazine owners promised that they would be releasing the tape by including it in every Source Magazine sold in their next issue.

The fall out on this will be something to watch..
