I may be new here, but I'm noone new to rhyming, so lemme see if I can swing you a line. Generally, you don't so much 'start' a battle, as much as it just falls into it. Making lyrical conflict is alot like going to war with another country.
Take example of America in World War II.
The U.S. Government knew of the atrocities being wrought in the European countries, but even so, we didn't just go immediately into war. It took a few offenses before we took the German threat seriously enough to react, and even then, it wasn't immediate, it was more of a climatic escalation of situations that led to the eventual war.
Battling someone is much the same. Sometimes the best way to start something of the sort, is simply just to spit out a 16 liner, and then wait for the feedback. Trust me, with all of the rhyme-happy people in this world, and especially on here, looking to make a name for themselves, someone is bound to post-up.
Hope that helps, happy huntin'.
