What is a Bar?

Am I right in saying one bar is X number of syllable per line or X number of beats per line?

ANyway just to introduce myslef, I love to write. That is all, I love puttin pen to paper and writing whatever is in my heart, if it comes out in rap form or peotry form it does not matter as written words are my way of exspressing myslef.

is considered two lines consisting of one set up line and a punch line,
as the work togeather they are sort of like one line anywayz, thats my
understanding...
