First attempt at a Topical

I'm having a topical battle on another site, and the topic was reality.

Looking for some indepth crits if anyone would have time to offer some.

Here goes:

Life surrounds my planet, yet I’m all alone
I gaze out at the people, my conscious is home
I close my windows, shield myself from the globe
My door is locked, barring you from my humble abode
Every so often, I’m forced to leave my sphere
Venture into reality, I scream and cower in fear
They stare at me, yet they don’t hear my cries
Onlookers they gaze, with unblinking eyes
I must escape, run away, save me from myself
Lest I be left dusty, lost, forgotten on the shelf
Calm down now, return to my realm of wonders
Lean back, take a nap, wake up to taste the colors
Chew on smells, listen to pictures and hear the sights
Brighten the place up just by turning out the lights

They say what you see is what’s reality
But I’m blind to the world –
I don’t know what’s real to me
