Wow.. In my opinion, it's his best album ever. The song "None Shall Pass" is amazing, his flow is so much different than it usually is, but it's super ill. I can't really express how good this album is, so I suggest you all check it out for yourselves. At least download that song.

I was actually looking for my old "Aesop Rock's Upcoming ALbum" post, but I stumbled upon this. Yes, Aesop Rocks album "None Shall Pass" is his best thus far (and he will be in Asheville Nov. 7th for the North Cackalackians).

Track One "Keep off the Lawn" not only prepares a rookie listener to aesop's eclectic style, it displays to a veteran listener how his individual production style has evolved (seeing he is also doing most of his production nowadays). "How alive? TOO ALIVE!" is exactly what this track suggests the album is, and it is not lie.

Track Two "None Shall Pass" is a reminder that we are listening to Aesop Rock. Blockhead did a great job with production, however it takes a listening or two to actually appreciate. The hook is what stole me "And I will remember your name and face on the day you are judged by a funhouse cast, and I will rejoice in your fall from grace with a cane to the sky like none shall pass". Who knows? Perfect cliff hanger delivered by the emcee we expect it from.

Track Three "Catacomb Kids" Aes Rock again flex's his ability to put together beats, as well as he puts together words. Maybe hearing him quote the famous Slick Rick with "Knock em out the box <name>) was too late for the third track, because it already happened. The hook will keep you wanting more, the beat does not have too much going on, but it's a good cushion for the rest of the album. Lets keep listening

Track four "Bring Back Pluto", is just as confusing as ever. However, inside his flow he reminds you that he is Aesop Rock. This I believe is the first track on the album that you have no idea what he is talking about, however, it makes you want to continue listening to figure it out! Apparently this song is about Pluto being sick of abuse and leaving our solar system, however, knowing Aesop Rock, this is really a genius cover up for what he really wants to say.

Track Eight "The Harbor is Yours" is BRILLIANT!!! Aesop Rock combines Hip Hop with a Pirate Story! It's about a pirate who spotted a mermaid, and what happens ten years later when they meet. It is brilliant, genius, and you do not see things like this happen in hip hop often these days. Actually, he does it so well, it really doesn't matter he is telling a pirate story, the song (and the way him and blockhead put it together) is really dope enough to make ANYONE not care what it's about. "An area the High Tide so grand, it's the one that brought the lady of the lake on dry L-L-L-Land! But I wish I could tell you that it ended happy, pretend like his bones weren't practically snapping, pretend like her gills didn't dry up and suffer, but that's a half dead pirate and a fish out of water".

Track Nine "Citronella" like the rest are extremly talented. However, lets focus on the hidden track following "Coffee" (Track 14); which I believe is entitled "Pigs". This track is suggestivley against the unpopular authority figure known as a "pig" . However, he does it in a way that he is referring to everyone as an animal. But that ends in the first verse. "If Noah had the benefit of Hindsight on his ship, he could've snatched two unicorns and left being the mothafuckin PIGS". He keeps the entire track mysteriously confusing, however you know exactly which "pigs" he is talking about.

Aesop Rocks new album is vital. Especially to people calling themselves "Duffle bag" this, and shit. Maybe I'm too old for this days commercial hip hop generation. I do know someone needs to continue to stand for the people who make good hip hop for themselves and the fans first. Money second.
