What is your outlook on Atmosphere? I am not a huge fan, but Slug's career has gotten other emcee's their own career. Brother Ali, Murs, Eyedea and Sage Francis to name a few. So while I don't really enjoy their music (Ant's production is phenominal), however the two of them don't do it for me.
I think Atmosphere is dope..They're original with their sound and messages. Atmosphere was one of the first groups I listened to, so they've influenced my style a lot.
Bottom line, even if you don't enjoy the music so much, you gotta hand it to 'em for their contributions to hip hop.

Because of Atmosphere and Rhymesayers they're is a dope show happening here in MN just about every weekend.Heirospecs,Oddjobs,Big Quarter,Unknown Prophets,Doomtree,Northern Associates,Kanser...all can thank Atmosphere for putting the Twin Cities on the rap map.Everyone else can thank them for putting the 'hip' back in hip hop.

Co-sign what MANE said.. even if you don't appreciate their music, you have to appreciate what they've done for the hip-hop community.

nah...i like atmosphere... ant is amazing producer, slug has good lyrics...though that poetic approach doesnt fascinate every listener...but still, atmosphere's share in hip hop is very important to underground scene and hip hop development..

I love Atmosphere..Slug have given so many great artists the a chance including my new favorite artist Sage Francis..
After getting my computer I did a search for some songs of his I hadn't heard and found some gems such as "Sunshine", "If I Were Santa Claus", and "Rooster"..If those titles don't sound familiar than do yourself a favor and check them out..

honestly, Atmosphere is the line between "Just never got into them", and "Shit, I've thought the same thing for 10 years now, why didn't I make this music at that same time!"... No... Or maybe I was too high between my late teens and mid twenties.

and what about that polution!?! poor atmosphere
^lol..
The album wasn't bad. It's different for sure, but I think it's original, matured, and has great production. The thing that shook most atmosphere fans up was the fact that it wasn't the old atmos that they were fans of...I'm a fan for Overcast/Lucy Ford/God Love's Ugly, not necessarily this new release.

Atmosphere was the first underground artist I ever heard, and therefore will always be my greatest influence and favorite rapper. While my favorite tracks by him were always the angry ones with hard delivery such as "One of a Kind" and "The Arrival", I love When Life Gives You Lemons You Paint That Shit Gold.
I don't even mind the fact that he has a more calm and mature delivery, because the content is incredible. I love the fact that he's so much further developed as an artist and has grown in his lyrics. He does an amazing job of telling stories in tracks like "The Waitress", "Dreamer", "In Her Music Box", "You", and "Me". Ant also has completely re-invented himself and shown his versatility. I think that the new piano influenced beats are gold, and that he has shown his ability to produce grimy mainstream beats on tracks like "Can't Break" and "Shoulda Known".
