The group Glue. Made up of Adeem, DJ Maker, DJ DQ (and some albums an additional DJ Shaleem). These guys are a great example of REAL musicians.
Adeem became a respected emcee for winning Scribble Jam '96 and rekindled his reputation with another win in '01 (possibly others, these I am sure). He attended many street battles, and large organized battles to become a very well respected freestyle artist. Footage can be found from anywhere between '99 - '07.
The last album the group released was in '06 "Catch as Catch Can" with their label "Fat Beatz Records". It is an instant classic, and the groups love for music saturates this entire album. It keeps you moving with a rythmic feel that forces you to look like an idiot bobbing in your car while the album is on. There are even some great versions of underground/mainstream crossovers, that even the most hardcore mainstream supremist would fall in love with.
A lot of people have not been enlightened by Glue's music. This is because their main market is "word of mouth" promotion. Their source of income is mainly tour money, and even with their lack (or in some cases abundance) of success they always come with energy and flavor.
Some cool stuff:

Adeen vs. DJ DQ (Interesting, pretty fresh idea when it happened)

I'm not saying they're kings of the underground, however their moves should be noticed, and respected.
