this is to admin or anybody who can answer thease questions.can you REALLY master tracks with the digi 001 system ? It comes with pro tools le software. I want to buy it but I don't know if it would be worth it.and does the digi 001/pro tools system produce the same results as the acid/sound forge system?(which system is eaiser to use?)and last but not least can someone tell me what the nuendo system is? I herd about it from this cool guy from africa, but we got cut off. If you are out there and you read this get back at me dog. Thanks, and much love to everybody out ther in the hip hop world.

Hi Tip-C,
I'll try to answer your questions as best I can.

1) I don't know anything about Nuendo.

2) Mastering isn't so much about equipment as it is about ears. I've been producing for 15 years and mastering for about 3 and I still have a LOT to learn, and I work in the studio over 30 hours a week all year long.

When I was looking at systems I stepped up to the plate and got the Pro-Tools TDM Mac system because I needed to know I had the best possible. But if I had gotten that system and didn't have any experience it wouldn't have made any difference. So it's a combination of experience and gear.

If it were ME buying the gear, I'd got with the Digi001 system. Why? Most amateurs have Sound Forge and more professional engineers have Digi001. That will usually help you in most of your decisions, there's a reason pro studios use certain gear.

If you get a computer recording system you have to be VERY careful about the type of computer you use. Most computers you get at Best Buy, Circuit City, etc. will have problems or won't work. Best bet is to have one custom build.

You can get a custom build computer with everything you need for around $700, up to $1200 if you want lots of memory.

Does that help you out?
PS - I have a lot of information for engineers, artists and producers that I've posted at my studio site at www.RoadRecords.com (http://www.RoadRecords.com) There's also a lot of info there about goal setting, etc.
