How can I find the producers in my area?

Im new to my area and I was wondering how (other than the YPgs) can I find out who produces, whos good to work with, etc? DO you just have to know other artists, is there a list on the internet of all producers in particular areas? How do I find out on the streets who to contact? I need help BAD?
